Tour de France

Floyd Landis

Floyd LandisThe 2006 Tour de France has come to an end with another American taking the win.

Floyd Landis of the Phonak team wowed the cycling world with his performance and claimed the yellow jersey. He is only the 3rd American to win the Tour and has now made it the 8th year in a row that America could say they produced a leader in this sport.

Congratulations to Floyd Landis and to all of the riders who participated in this year’s Tour de France!

I’m irritated – possibly totally ticked off – at the hub bub about Floyd Landis. Do the French organizers of the Tour simply want to discredit anyone who wins since they seem to be unable to compete? This is a man who overcame unbelievable hip pain to train and compete. The tour orgainizers have repeatedly accueed American only to have their claims discounted and “undone”.

I hope there will be a way for Floyd to refute the claims and tests and enjoy the win he deserves.

Yep….when I first heard the news and accusations I said, \”Say it isn\’t so, Floyd!\” Well, I believe him.  It\’s a little hard to know what is and isn\’t true…and no offense, but especially when they\’re doing the testing and French laboratories. It\’s quite sad when he\’s worked and trained so hard (you\’re right-through the hip pain and all) and then has to face all of this. On top of that, he\’s been fired from his team. What if he\’s innocent and all of this has happened? I guess it\’s a bit like Lance Armstrong. I guess they\’re sick of the Americans winning? Hmmm….
