What is it that you design and create?

I design and create hand stamped, personalized sterling silver jewellery.

What is your favorite part of the design process?

My favorite part of the design process is creating pieces that are unique and original but appeal to everyone. I love putting together pieces that when done, I want to wear myself. This type of design work is unlimited in it’s potential, so the creative inspiration is always there. I also love that my work allows the client to participate and have a direct hand in the design and creation of the jewellery they are buying.

How did you come up with your business name?

About 15 years ago I began making craft projects that friends and family were buying. I was experimenting with so many ideas. One day my brother Brad came to me and said “you need business cards, I am going to make some for you”

A few weeks later he brought me these beautiful cards that said “Alli’s Originals”

He told me that he wanted to put a company name on them and since I hadn’t thought of one yet, he just put “Alli’s Originals”

I never changed the name because I was always so proud that my big brother Brad had come up with my company name. Not to mention, I liked the name and with all the different mediums I was working with, it didn’t limit me to one particular idea.

Who or what inspires you?

My Husband, my son Jacob, my family & my incredibly wonderful friends. They inspire the loving and romantic ideas. So many things inspire me like art and flowers. I am always really inspired by all the incredible talent of other designers, artisans and crafters.

What advice would you give other independent artists who are just starting out?

Find your niche, the one thing that inspires you the most and allows your creativity to flow endlessly. Get as many people as you can to give you input, ideas and even critisism. Then, when you have found what works and makes you want to work on it 80 hours a week, take the risk. It’s the risk takers that always end up the most successful. The ones who aren’t afraid to fail.

What’s on your iPod/music player right now?

Well, I don’t have an ipod….my husband and I still listen to vinyl records at home. But if I had an ipod it would definately have alot of James Taylor, Elton John, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Phil Collins, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and the soudtrack to The Big Chill.

What t.v. shows are you currently hooked on?

Lost, Weeds, The Office, Amazing Race and Studio 60. Oh…and Oprah when there’s time!

What was the last movie you watched?

Lucky Number Sleven

What’s your favorite food?

Spaghetti and good Jewish Briskit (specifically my Aunt Merle’s or my Mother-in-laws)

What’s your favorite candy?

All candy is my favorite! Do I have to pick one?

What store could you walk around in for hours and be happy?

Any kitchen ware store or American Eagle Outfitters.

Any pets?

Not right now. My family had a dog and cat growing up. I love animals (especially cats) but I am very allergic to them. We will get a dog one day when our kids are old enough to ask for one!

Favorite place to visit or place you’d like to visit?

I love Negril Jamaica and would love to see Italy one day. My goal is to see as much of the world as I can.

Any celebrity crushes?

Luke Wilson and Bruce Willis back in his Moonlighting days

Favorite Holiday?

I love any Holiday where I get to see my beautiful niece and nephews and be together with my family…it’s such a safe place to be. And my Aunt always cooks a killer meal with the best desserts ever!

If you were a shoe, what shoe would you be?

I would be a flip flop. They are comfortable, versitile and go with any casual outfit.

What do you secretly wish you could do/be?

Psychic!

Favorite piece of clothing?

My torn blue jeans that I keep having to patch.
