What is it that you design and create?
I design jewelry for the modern, stylish woman. I like to juxtapose the bold and the elegant, the modern and the antique.
What is your favorite part of the design process?
I love falling in love. Falling in love with new cuts of stones I find. This is where I have no self-control…I’d almost sell my first born sometimes. I have to restrict my designing so that I don’t get too crazy. I don’t love chocolate but I could imagine a chocolate fiend in a chocolate store. I’d end up with a 150 piece collection 6 times a year if I don’t watch myself. I learned it’s better to have a tightly edited collection with less choices to confuse people. I’m not there yet.
How did you decide on your business name?
I used to design clothes. In fashion design just your name is good. It’s finally good not to have a blend-in name.
Who or what inspires you?
Stones and metals. Material, essentially, dictates the design. I purposely don’t think about what to do with them until I have time to design. Then I do the first thing that they makes me feel when I handle them.
What advice would you give other independent artists who are just starting out?
Me, advice? I want some advice!
What t.v. shows are you currently hooked on?
I don’t have time to watch TV till 11 or 12 midnight. By then there’s not much left. I don’t have paid TV. Good thing…I used to compulsively surf and be frustrated by not finding anything. Now I do the same but with like 10 channels.
What was the last movie you watched?
I love watching movies at home! Last saw Proposition and highly recommend it.
What’s your favorite food?
Food. All real food, that is. No snack foods but real meals. I can have several a day. I don’t spoil it with snacks.
What store could you walk around in for hours and be happy?
My life is drastically different now. I don’t shop or desire it nor have time anymore. Imagine that.
Any pets?
Kids. So far they suck up all possibilities of having any pets. Oh, I should mention that we’ve managed to kill whatever that resembles pets in our house…you don’t want to know.
