The Black Donnellys

Monday night was the premier of a new show called The Black Donnellys. The first time I saw or heard anything about it was actually when I was sitting in the movie theater waiting for the movie to start. I think there was a trailer for the show running during the movie previews. It seemed more like a movie at first. By the end of the trailer I thought it looked interesting and that I’d like to try watching it.
On Monday I did and I think I’m hooked. It’s a show about 4 Irish brothers who have a strong bond. They do things together and would do anything for one another, which happens to sometimes include things that are, well….negative. The show is narrated by a childhood friend (who appears to be in jail or at a police station being interrogated) and is great because it adds bits of comedy throughout the somewhat heavy show. There’s organized crime stuff, a love story and more.
The creators of The Black Donnellys are the oscar-winning writers of Crash and the writer of Million Dollar Baby, Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco. Based on that movie, I’d say this show has a pretty good shot!
So if you missed the premier episode, not to worry. You can catch it again on Thursday (I believe in place of ER).
