Stop. Sponsor Time…

Meet Kathryn Riechert and her company

Name: Kathryn Riechert

Business Name: Kathryn Riechert

Where are you located?
Savannah, GA

What is it that you design and create?
Jewelry

What is your favorite part of the design process?
The actual creation process. Being one on one with the metal and manipulating it into just the right shape. I love using my hammers and torch the most.

How did you come up with your business name?
It’s my name
:-)

Where/How did this all begin?
I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design and have my BFA in Metals and Jewelry. I took my first jewelry class in the summer of 2000. When I first signed up for the course I wanted to use it as a means to create small scale sculpture.

Who or what inspires you?
Everything!! Nature, movies, conversations, my pets…everything!

What advice would you give other independent artists who are just starting out?
Don’t give up. It takes a ton of work and it is scary to take some of the plunges, but it is definitely worth it!

What is your favorite indie purchase or trade?

I wouldn’t even know where to begin!! I have so many handmade pieces… I do love all the paintings I’ve gotten, and I wear my leather belt by RADCOW every day.

What’s on your iPod/music player right now?
Lately I’ve been listening to Pandora Radio online. My favorite station is a punk/Irish mix.

What t.v. shows are you currently hooked on?
Project Runway is my must see.

What was the last movie you watched?
In the theater: The Dark Knight. At home: No Country for Old Men

What’s your favorite food?
Hmmm….pizza, steak, cheesecake, mac ‘n cheese….

What’s your favorite candy?
Chocolate bars

Coffee or Tea?

Both! Coffee in the morning, then tea in the afternoon (try adding a splash of cranberry juice to your hot tea—it’s super yummy!)

What store could you walk around in for hours and be happy?
Art shows or art galleries, other than those I don’t spend a ton a time in stores. I do like Burlington Coat Factory and T. J. Max though.

Any pets?
Yes. 2 dogs (Lucky and Bailey) and a sphynx cat named “Maya Pants Kookydance”

Favorite place to visit or place you’d like to visit?
I like traveling anywhere new (which is most places!) Right now I really want to take a trip to the NC mountains.

Favorite Holiday?
Christmas

Favorite piece of clothing?

Jeans, jeans, and more jeans.

Do you speak any other languages? If not, would you like to learn one?
No other languages, but I took 3 years of Latin in highschool. I would like to learn French or Italian.

Thanks so much, Kathryn. Please show your support to our lovely sponsor and check out her amazing jewelry.
