Hey, there, Monday. So, if you noticed I was missing {hopefully you missed me at least a little} and wondered about Friday Favorites, I’ll share a little something with you. If you are following me on Twitter {go on, do it} you may have seen my mention of The ART Weekend that I attended. So that’s what I’ve been up to. Three amazing days of learning. Hands-on art stuff and computer program things that make my head spin {in a good way, I think}. I have some poor quality cell phone pictures that I’ll post here and will give you more details later. I really want to share this with you all because if it comes around again, I think you should jump in and sign up for anything you have even the smallest interest in. It would be so worth it.
So, have a Happy, Happy Monday! I’ll catch you up on posts soon…
Congratulations to Janick! Her shop, Nea, is celebrating year 3 and there’s an Anniversary Sale going on. Starting today, August 15, you can save 15% off everything in the shop. Sale will last one week.
One of my favorite creative folks, Portland-based artist Jill Bliss, has recently designed two limited edition pieces through 20×200. The Handmade Treehomes prints are simply lovely {perhaps a dreamy place to imagine living in} and are even more special because they are a benefit edition for Handmade Nation. You can learn more about it by checking out the 20×200 blog.

Ever feel that way? There are days {most} when it seems I have no idea what I’m doing. I have no idea where I am. Or who I am. How I got here. Why I’m here. Blah, blah, blah. For the most part, I am pretty positive and can keep things together. And then there are those times when I feel like I’m just going to lose it. You know what I’m saying, right? When I’m super tired, for example, I either get really quiet, maybe a little grumpy {just a little}, or a little delirious and laugh for no good reason. I found this poster and, of course, started laughing…
Holy monkey {yeah, sometimes I say that}, you’ve made it through the first week of August already! Hopefully it went by smoothly. Enjoy your weekends and have a Happy, Happy Friday, my loves.
Have you seen the movie (500) Days of Summer yet? I haven’t but am hoping to make the time to do so. Zooey Deschanel is obviously adorable and the trailers alone make me totally crush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Take those two cuties, add a song by She & Him {love She & Him, by the way}, with a bit of dancing, and perhaps you get a fun little video like this…
Absolutely, without a doubt, one of the most talented couples around. I love these guys so much! Enjoy…

First of all, can you tell us what you create?
Lots of stuff. Wood rings, mustaches on a stick, marque signs…We are always looking to make something that we would have never dreamed of making – that’s what inspires us.
How do you begin your day? Any morning rituals?
Coffee! Then, we plan our day, which always includes making a giant list.
Do you do something crafty each day? Where does your inspiration come from?
We really do make something almost everyday, we’re not very good at relaxing. We get inspired by our everyday lives: our friends, our home, places we visit, the tools we use…
What’s your workspace like {organized}?
Oh yeah, it’s organized! Shauna is CRAZY for organizing everything!
How many hours does your normal work day consist of?
We both have full time jobs, but we try real hard to get 40 hours in our studio each week!
How do you end your day of crafty business? Any evening rituals?
Coffee! I’m serious…we just can’t get enough of it. We also try to photograph work as we go, so often in the evening we will upload photos and start to think about the projects for next day.
What is your definition of a perfect day?
A spring day in our studio with the windows open, coffee in hand and NPR playing on the radio {especially Ira Glass’ This American Life}.
Thanks so much, Shauna and Stephen! If you didn’t already love these two, you surely do now.
ps – did you notice my mustache on a stick pics on my “about” page? photos taken by my lovely friend, Nicole Hill Gerulat.

If you are a true Lisa Congdon fan, you’re probably familiar with her adorable dog, Wilfredo. You’re probably a fan of his as well. He helps out at her shows and keeps her company at the shop here in San Francisco. Now you can have a piece of Wilfredo artwork for your space…
Maybe it’s because I’m not a parent, but I think it’s a good idea to play with your food. Get creative. You know, express yourself. I mean, just check this out…
Parmesan and Rosemary Star Doodle Bread:
I learned about Doodle Bread from independent designer and baker, Rose Kane. She has created a way to bake loaves of bread with doodles on each slice through the use of natural colors and flavors. One of the best parts is that her newly launched website offers home baking kits so that you can play with bread in your very own kitchen. Her goal was to get kids baking. Check out her blog to see what new ideas she comes up with and where she’ll be selling the breads and kits {local farmers market – she’s in Belfast, Northern Ireland}.
While using protection can be a statement used for quite a few situations, I’m going to address one in particular today. Here’s a hint:
Any idea what it is? I ordered it recently on Etsy from Lollington.
Yup. I had to make sure that I had protection for my new baby. It’s my custom Pink Elephant Laptop Sleeve and I even got a matching cord pouch {to keep all the cords/power chargers organized}. You can get sleeves for your laptop, mini laptop, and even your Ebook readers. Working with Lollington was great. She got back to me right after placing my order and sewed up my sleeve and pouch in no time. I was so excited to see my package arrive in the mail and immediately put my baby in there for protection. I feel so together now, despite how the rest of the things around me may look.
ps – just realized that I hadn’t taken good pictures since I was rushing. The middle photo {with my baby in it} is most representative of the color of my sleeve. It’s burgundy.
