Loving Anisa’s newest Cimarosa Stripe Dress {$188.00} at her shop, Makool Loves You

I adore stripes, bright colors for details, and pockets {especially those with buttons!}. The Cimarosa seems like the perfect comfy dress for casual occasions as well as fancier ones. This style is also now available in a greater size range.

Like a Rainbow.

A beautiful, 500 colored pencil rainbow…

Orchestra

For some reason I’ve been meaning to post this awesomeness for a while and kept forgetting. I apologize for not sharing it with you sooner. This is part of a project that can be found via Social Designer. You can actually subscribe and receive 25 colors per month for 20 months. Yup, you can own 500 different colored pencils, all with unique hues and names. I think the best part is the display aspect. Instant artwork and decor for your space!

A Crafter’s Life: my day in photos.

This talented photographer knows her stuff. I’ve been fortunate enough to get to know her a little more recently, and have been able to attend her photography classes. Her work is fresh and crisp and I know you’ll enjoy learning about her, too.

Name: Nicole Hill Gerulat
Business Name:
Nicole Hill Gerulat
Location:
San Francisco, CA

First of all, can you tell us what you create?
I’m a photographer and teacher. When I shoot, I don’t just document the existing, I create the photograph by choosing the concept, models, location, lighting, wardrobe, props, etc.

Nicole

How do you begin your day? Any morning rituals?
I’m about to launch our online classes so lately, I’ve been spending the mornings working on my computer catching up on email and working on lesson plans for the classes. Then I try to get an hour of pilates in on my reformer.

Do you do something crafty each day? Where does your inspiration come from?
Not always – though that would be ideal. Jordan Ferney (jordanferney.blogspot.com) and I are currently working on a project weekly for ourselves called “Best of San Francisco” where we collect the best things to eat in San Francisco, style and photograph them. Oh…and eat them. It seems like I always have different “crafty” projects going on all the time though. I just finished some really great business cards. Inspiration comes from magazines, blogs and being outside.

NicoleWallWork

What’s your workplace like (organized)?
Oooohhhh noooooo. NO way. Although there comes a point where I can’t concentrate and it’s time for a little clean-up. I have a hard time believing any project-oriented person is really tidy. When I get on those “clean-up and organize” kicks, it usually doesn’t last much longer than my next project.

NicoleWork

How many hours does your normal work day consist of?
About 9 – 10 hrs — depending on how lazy I am at night.

NicoleTablePainting

How do you end your day of crafty business? Any evening rituals?
Oh yes. My husband and I watch an episode or two of our favorite shows (or shows we are catching up on). That’s currently Friday Night Lights and 30 Rock. I also cook every night.

NicoleHomeMolly

What is your definition of a perfect day?
Only 1 hour of emailing and researching. 1 hour on the reformer. 2 hours of an amazing food photo shoot. A great lunch with friends. The park with my dog, Molly. Eat AGAIN and catch a movie. I think if I had more space in my apartment, I would get into more projects.

NicoleMolly

Thanks so much, Nicole! Can’t wait for the online classes. Those will be absolutely amazing! Say hello to Molly for me.

Freya Art & Design.

Freya Ete has some positive energy to share with the world. She is an artist based in, and divides her time between, both London and her studio in Phillip Island, Australia. I recently saw her work on Etsy as well as a favorite blog of mine, decor8. I knew this was a sign. I needed to share her artwork with you and also needed the positive vibes she exudes through her designs. While I do not like to talk about these things here or with a lot of people, it’s an anniversary of a death in my family and it’s still fresh. I am super appreciative for Freya and her magical cheering-up powers she’s given me today.

Partners in Crime.

We all have one {maybe more}. That person who you can get away with doing certain things and talking about certain things with that you possibly can’t with others. There’s a special bond you share and Ashley has decided to celebrate that with her newest print. I LOVE it! What a perfect gift for that special someone {or yourself}.

Thanks, FedEx.

As I approached my apartment yesterday afternoon following work, there it was. I saw the notice that FedEx had dropped off a package for me {isn’t that an exciting feeling, by the way?}. I went next door to pick up my delivery, ran upstairs and ripped open the bag. It was my awesome shirt from Sub_Urban Riot. I had to try it on right away to be sure it was the right fit. I even took a picture of it because it felt so good on {quit laughing at me}. The collection is custom cut and sewn, making each piece unique. I’ll definitely be placing another order soon.
