Hello! This is the first Friday Favorites post that I’m doing for 2010 {it’s been a while}. Where 2009 went, I’ll never know. I hope that your week went well and that you’re {slowly} getting back in the groove of working after the holidays. Have a wonderful weekend. Stay warm. And have a Happy, Happy Aloha Friday!
You can still get your shop on at ban.do where 25% of all sales through midnight tonight {Friday, January 22} will be donated to the people affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
Valentine’s Day isn’t for all of us. I am someone who believes in telling people how you feel about them all the time. The nice feelings and stuff, that is. So how perfect that Emily has created these vintage-inspired pack of Anytime Valentines {$12.00/set of 18}…
You choose the letter or symbol. These are all handmade in the USA of solid maple wood and is ready to hang. Available only through V-day {February 14, 2010}.
The amazing Leslie of Feisty Elle has shared with me that she’ll be donating $15 for each item purchased now through January 31 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund. You’ll have seen her stuff pop up here numerous times on Mixed Plate because I love her work and she’s a great gal. Thanks, Leslie!
After an aftershock shook Haiti Wednesday morning, it’s now more important than ever to do whatever we can to help out. I got an email from Cyd over at Smock regarding their generous donation offers. Shop their site today and tomorrow {January 20 – 21) and 100% of the sales will be donated to Doctors without Borders {an absolutely amazing organization, by the way}. I love their letterpress goods and gift wrap. Check it out…
Had to share this video {by Steve V} I found that Joanna posted regarding the psychology experiment of willpower. It’s too cute and funny not to. There’s a story about it in The New Yorker as well. Tempted?
There are a number of online places you can go to help with the relief efforts for the tragic earthquake that struck Haiti. If you’re not sure how you can help, Jenn over at Indie Fixx has coordinated a fundraiser for the Haitian people with 100% of the proceeds going to the Red Cross International Response Fund. There is a silent auction of items that have been generously donated by indie crafters, artists and designers. She will post a new batch of items each day that you can bid on. Please help out if you can and go here for all the info.
ps – here’s some info via Victoria of other participants. Jan also has another great list. Thanks to everyone who is helping out in any way. Remember that every little bit helps.
