it has been hot here in san francisco! the sun is shining and that means i’m smiling. yeah, i know that was cheesy, but it’s the truth. it’s got me thinking of being at the beach, drinking ice cold water {or other beverages}, eating shave ice, or anything else that will assist in regulating the heat coming off everyone’s bodies…
i was checking out fine little shop to see what’s new there and forgot i had spotted this previously…
i love this ohoy wallpaper! it’s made of non-woven material and you can order pre-cut lengths to fit your wall exactly. the design is a collaboration between fine little day’s eight-year-old otto dunker and photowall.eu.
have you realized yet that september is almost over? how in the heck did that even happen?! while i have been living in denial, it’s time to face that fact that the holidays are coming up. fast. so here is the first of any holiday-related posts because i just adore rifle paper co. so much…
in addition to the cards above are some invitations you could use for your spooky bash…
cards range from $4.00/ea. to $16.00 for a set of 8. invitations are $20.00 for a box of 10.
we’re all cheering with delight because we’ve been blessed with a new drool-worthy e-mag that launched last week. rue magazine is now available online and its premiere issue doesn’t disappoint.
this interior design and style publication is brought to us by co-founders crystal gentilello and anne sage. it was great seeing some of my favorite girls featured in this issue including victoria‘s home, holly‘s faves in the “blogger side by side”, ban.do‘s party style, and even erin as a guest curator. here’s some eye candy for you…
recently i was thinking how i really haven’t taken the time to make my apartment here really feel like home. it has little hints of who i am but still needs more. little posters and prints are always an excellent way to add to your decor without breaking your budget. so i was really happy to find these letterpress posters at roll and tumble press…
and i was just thinking of making my own “eat” sign to hang in my kitchen!
alright, all. this was such an amazing giveaway and i want to thank suzie for participating and offering up such a great prize for you to win. and thanks to all of you who visited her shop and left comments, posted to your blogs, twitter accounts and facebook pages. but what you really want to know is who won this…
and the winner is…
that’s right. the day labourer bag is all yours! i’ve sent you an email requesting your mailing address for your prize. hooray!
guess what? there’s a brand new design magazine called anthology. and it’s a print mag. yes, i said print. hooray!
anthology is a quarterly shelter and lifestyle print magazine brought to us by two of my faves, anh-minh le and meg mateo ilasco. they envision the publication as a collection of stories shared with readers as it will take a narrative approach to its coverage of topics such as home decor, travel, design, entertaining, and culture. i cannot tell you how thrilled i am that the world will have design offerings in print again. after domino bid us farewell, i know many have longed for more tangible pieces of work as opposed to just what we get off the internet. if you believe in print and small business, do your best to support efforts like this one. get your subscription here {i signed up for mine!}.
how was your weekend, my dears? you know that here on mixed plate, i try to keep things fairly light. on the personal front i don’t think i give out much info. but i gotta say that i really haven’t been myself lately. i have been going through a great deal of stress {yes, enough to the point where i’ll admit it} and had total insomnia last week. seriously. could not sleep for days. it was my first experience with it. it led to difficulty breathing and now i am fighting off a cold {and i don’t usually get sick} since my immune system is probably in the crapper. the point is, while i don’t want to focus on the negative of recent events, i thought it would be okay to share a little more of me than i have in the past. i mean, we are friends and some of you have been with me for a while now. and i’m also writing this because i have a few friends to really thank who have been quite sweet and supportive of me, especially recently. they really have tried to take care of me, which is usually the role that i play. on that note, i thought i’d wish you all a wonderful start to your week, a happy monday to you, because i know i’m looking forward to better days. these floral images should do the trick…
i just stumbled upon this project where 25 leading letterpress printers were asked to create 50 unique notebooks. they had free rein to do what ever they chose. the “feedback loop” collection of their limited edition books can be found over at the felt & wire shop where 100% of the proceeds will be going to design ignites change, supporting their school: by design youth mentorship program. you know, not that you needed a reason to own another beautiful letterpress notebook.
aloha! i’m Liana. this is my site. i am not a professional writer. i pretty much just write the way i talk. it’s fun meeting new online friends and introducing these amazing artists. i’ll do my best to keep you entertained.
