lisa congdon is hands down one of my favorite artists. this year she started a project called “a collection a day, 2010” where she photographs or draws/paints one collection each day.

yes, she started january 1, 2010 and will continue on through december 31, 2010. the collections mostly consist of real items that exist in lisa’s home or studio {which she photographs}. some are simply imagined {those are the ones she chooses to draw or paint}. her love and obsession with collections is something i absolutely love seeing her document.

but the really exciting news is that her collections will be published into a book! lisa is working with uppercase {who creates beautiful art and design books and, hello, their magazine} to bring it to you and it will be released in march of 2011. pre-order your copy here.

congrats, lisa!

add this to the wishlist, people…

i do need new headphones since the ones on my ipod are messed up. i bet these would help keep my ears warm, too! the hand crocheted teddy bear headphones {$45.00/each} are compatible with any standard music player and even comes with a removable bow. too cute. the hardest part is selecting a color {charcoal grey, mocha, honey?}. head on over to red velvet art for yours.

as promised, i’ve got an amazing giveaway for you. man, oh, man are you guys lucky! suzie of bees’netta is offering up one of her gorgeous bags to a lucky winner. let me introduce you to the prize…

you’re in love, right? this day labourer {a $250.00 value!} is made of a royal purple twill and was designed by suzie herself with a classic satchel in mind. there are double flap pockets and gold hook closures, and two tote spaces {with enough room for your books/magazines/binders/laptop}, one of which has a magnetic snap closure and the other sports a zipper closure. what i love about suzie’s bags, aside from the fact that they are all beautiful and well-made, is that they are so functional. i’m a practical gal and can appreciate that there are both handles as well as a removable and adjustable messenger strap, pockets for things like your phone, and that the bag closes.

wanna win?…
simply visit suzie’s shop. cruise around for a bit and see what you like. then come back here and leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite item in her shop is and why.
you know what, though? just because i love you so much i’ll give you another chance to win…
in addition to your comment regarding her shop, if you are on twitter and tweet {be sure to add @mixedplateblog so i’ll see it} about this giveaway, have your own blog and share this , or tell your friends on facebook about it, come on back here and leave another comment letting me know and you’ll have another entry. hooray!
the contest starts today and will end in one week on tuesday, september 14. i will select a winner at random and will post it here the following day.
this giveaway is limited to US residents only.
thanks! good luck!
thanks, suzie!!!
congrats to our winner, tami!!!
