so this is the second time {here’s the first} that i am going to talk about the rachel zoe project on mixed plate. have you watched it before? i became hooked after trying to figure out who she was and why people always talked about her having these crazy phrases that she would use. if you’ve seen her show, you’ll know why i think these are just great…

these signs are “to die for“, aren’t they? you got that, right? these signs are cut from recycled plywood that were gathered from local construction sites by william dohman of st. paul, minnesota.

as a kid i remember going to stores and seeing grab bags. sometimes it was at a snack shop {or crack seed store, in hawai’i}. of course, i recall going to windward mall by my house and always wanting to visit a store called special dreams. it was basically a place filled with sanrio goodies…and, i just wanted to buy lots of pens, pencils, erasers and candy from there. but they had grab bags. what would be in those bags? it was a mystery. but that’s part of the appeal, isn’t it? so when sandy mentioned that she and matthew were working on some gocco grab bags, i was pretty excited and began to reminisce of those childhood days…

these home-sewn drawstring bags by treatzone have a vintage bike screenprinted on the front. inside each bag will contain other gocco treats like a print, notecard set, and a pocket notebook. and at just $16.00 it’s a total steal {remember, you get a nifty new bag, too!}.

happy, merry everything to you! as i sit here typing away this little note to you all, i realize how lucky i truly am. this year on this holiday i desperately wish i were back home with my family. but as i spent all yesterday at work with such fun and amazing bosses {who are my san francisco family}, chatting with customers {some who just popped by to say hello and wish me well}, friends who made sure i had something to eat {because the day job really has been that busy}, and thinking about what lovely readers and online friends you are to me, i got all happy and merry. these are all the sorts of things in life i need and all i could have ever asked for. thank you for being so good to me. i love you all so very much. may your holiday be a safe, happy and merry one!

what does your space look like right now? is there a christmas tree in your living room? are there all sorts of decor elements reflective of the season? growing up {and still to this day} my mom really got a thrill out of sprucing up our home to look festive. the day after thanksgiving we would pull out the boxes that were filled with ornaments, lights, figurines, and more. it was on. being that i live alone now and am oh-so-homesick, i yearn for a little something familiar. since my apartment doesn’t have much space {considering i’m currently sprawled across the bed, living space, and kitchen working on craft projects and gifts}, i decided on this. may i present to you my “holiday corner”…

don’t you like my mini-tree? i have no idea what it is, but it sure smells good.
my little deer was in need of a place to live. i think he likes his new home. and the flower i gave him today.

oh, and my silver elephant candle adds a nice glow to the space…

it’s friday! what are your plans for the weekend? here are a couple of ideas if you are here in san francisco {you might spot me there, so let me know if you’ll be around}…
to complete my shopping {i’m behind, i know} i’ll be picking one of the best kinds of gifts i could think of. you know, the kind that you can eat. i’ll be grabbing some wonderful stocking stuffers and gifts at the candy store. not only do they have seasonal items, but they have something for everyone’s taste and budget. from old school candies to fine artisan handmade chocolates and caramels, you really cannot go wrong. they know their stuff at the shop and can guide you in finding the perfect present. even better? they are a small mom-and-pop operation carrying lots of local confectioners and primarily unique items that you will not find in any other store here in san francisco {many even in california or the west coast}.

finally, it’s here once again and i have been looking forward to it…

this weekend, head over to the second annual renegade craft fair {it’s the holiday version, of course!} at the concourse exhibition center. with over 250 artists in attendance selling their handmade wares, well…it’s probably where i’ll be spending most of my saturday. i love getting to meet and visit with some of my favorite artists {most of who you’ve seen featured here on mixed plate}. there will also be workshops and food.
