There were a couple of posts on Mixed Plate that I’ve done regarding wallpaper {how do you feel about it?}. With so many artists lending their eye for design to wallpaper companies, you really can’t go wrong. I’m finding more and more that I would enjoy seeing every morning when I wake up and every evening when I walk through the door. I am really excited about the launch of the Oh Joy! collection for Hygge & West…

Today it is supposed to be around 80 degrees here in the Bay Area and even warmer tomorrow. While there are people who hate the heat, I have a smile on my face. I am a Hawaii girl, you know, and I dream of days when the sun is shining and my fingers and toes aren’t frozen. My guess is that people will call in sick and head to the beach {and others will be lounging shirtless at the parks – you know what I’m talking about}. Oh, to be at a beach back home…

Sometimes people just don’t get it. Like, babies, for example. So, you have to send them messages. Subliminal messages…

They’re great, right? I just saw the Subliminal Baby Series letterpress posters over at Eva’s shop, Sycamore Street Press. I think they would be funny gifts for new moms and dads.
crying is for babies, you’re getting very sleepy, eating off the floor never ends well: $35.00/ea.

At the Renegade Fair here in San Francisco a couple weeks back I quickly scanned Hillary Bird’s booth. I fell in love instantly! Since I was with a friend who was there for a limited amount of time I decided to breeze through the show quickly and then return to visit with crafters after she had left. Well, I had meant to check back in with Hillary and missed her {I know she was busy when I passed by again}. Needless to say, I was absolutely kicking myself after. I mean, I wanted one of everything…

That would be Jon Contino’s official title. Only someone as talented a designer, illustrator, and typographer could be called such, right? Here are just a few of my favorite works of this New York artist…

Whenever I go to a book store, I make sure to visit the Children’s section. There is something about the creative way that authors write the moral of the story that I love {guess that’s why they are authors}. And have you noticed how beautiful the illustrations are for kids? It really is inspiring. I came across Emma San Cartier’s site and it was full of work that reminded me of how much fun it is to browse through my favorite bookstore area. I can just imagine all of these lining the pages or gracing the covers of editions I would enjoy having in my collection. Do you peruse the Children’s Book Section at stores?

Speaking of books…Check out the one that Emma recently illustrated.
