Indieshopping.com is a great site. It’s like a magazine, only online, showcasing talented emerging and independent designers. Part magazine and part blog, Indieshopping.com is updated daily with interviews, reviews, a shopping directory, contests, articles and even exclusive sales.
Anissa is the editor-in-chief of Indieshopping.com, is the owner of Femmina Style (a boutique of vintage and handmade fashions) and runs the pr and web design firm Indie Buzz PR. Do you think she’s busy enough?!?!
Head on over now to sign up for the newsletter and bookmark this blog and site to stay on top of what’s new with indie designers and what’s on sale!

Yet another one of my favorite blogs to read is called Miss Malaprop. First of all, isn’t the name adorable? I was curious about how she came up with the name for her blog and discovered that it was really a play on her name and that if she were a DJ her name would be DJ Malaprop. Cute, right? She also contributes the name to her “literary and theater geekdom”.
Well, “DJ Malaprop” is actually the wondeful Mallory who is the gal in charge of this blog. Originally from Gulfport, Mississippi, she is currently living in New Orleans. In her free time she enjoys making reconstructed clothing and accessories (check out Dismantled Designs), is involved in doing the online publicity for the New Orleans Craft Mafia and manages a few online communities. Where does she find the time to write about “Indie Finds for Your Uncommon Life”?
For Mallory, starting Miss Malaprop was for a combination of reasons. She wanted a place to share her thoughts on three things. She was looking to spread the word on small business owners and independent designers, document her mission on leading a more environmentally friendly and socially responsible lifestyle, and to talk about what is really going on in New Orleans and help showcase NOLA and Gulf South based artists and businesses. Amazing! I fell in love with Mallory’s blog because of these things and because of how she feels about the small businessperson. She believes in them and believes in trying to make a difference in the world.
Visit Miss Malaprop and add this great blog to your favorites list! Oh, and one more thing…Mallory and I have similar tastes. Her favorite shop is called Trashy Diva, a store that she and I have both featured on our blogs. The coolest news, however, is that Mallory just scored her dream job with Trashy Diva and is very excited about working there! Let’s all congratulate her and celebrate her new job!!
I wanted to share a couple of fun and unique items from Mallory’s site, Dismantled Designs…

One of my daily reads and definitely a favorite among many indie businesses!

Jena is the owner and brains behind Modish, a blog that showcases independent crafters. She focuses on designers and artists that are not mainstream…stuff you can’t find in just any store. She finds some of the best items that are out there on the World Wide Web. She believes in supporting the small business owner and is one herself.
In addition to running Modish, Jena is also a creative jewelry designer. She is the owner of Curio J. She is currently working on new designs and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with.
Visit Modish and sign up for the newsletter. There are monthly giveaways that Jena has put together with the help of some indie businesses that you may have seen featured on her site. As if you needed any other reasons to read her blog!

I’m going to start featuring a “Blog of the Week”. It may be a blog that I like to read or maybe something interesting that was brought to my attention by another reader.
If you know of any good blogs that I should talk about, let me know. Send me an email if you have a favorite or if you are the owner of a blog that you’d like me to share with Mixed Plate readers!
