Congratulations to Stu and Janet on the opening of their brick and mortar space last weekend!

They put a huge amount of work to transform an old wool mill space…

in to this…

Gorgeous, right? Those were some of the photos from their opening day. Located in Manayunk, a neighborhood in the northwestern section of Philadelphia, the store hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 12 – 7 pm. If you can’t make it, you can still check them out online.
So, who wants to take a trip to Philly with me?

You know I have a love for animals, right? So you can imagine the joy I felt when I saw what Tara has in her shop, Ink+Wit…

The Foxy Friends and Elephant Safari Linen Tea Towels or Wall Hangings {$20.00/ea} are begging to come live with me. The adorable designs are screenprinted using water based inks. I say there’s no choosing between the two so if you’re considering purchasing them…well, you know what I think.

What’s funny is that I made a similar necklace with a vintage key. Hmmm, maybe it’s a sign.

Over this past holiday season {previous ones as well} I did my shopping from only small businesses. Everyone got things from me from shops that were local or independently owned. One of my favorite shops for getting unique gift items is Limonaia.

Located in Russian Hill here in San Francisco, owner Jessica Goldfarb has curated a selection of goods from both local and international companies fit for any occasion and recipient. Most recently I picked up a vase and candle for my mom, a fabric pouch for my sister, and a memory card game, drawing books and bath treats for my nieces and nephews. Oh, and there may have been a little something for myself thrown in there as well. The shop is great because it fits any budget.

Stop on by and see Jessica and her friendly staff. They are all very helpful and knowledgeable about the lines they carry in the shop. Some of my current favorites are the fabric headbands and ponytail holders made locally {which I own}, paper products, candles, soaps, and well, just about everything I guess. My friend actually just gave me the cutest wristlet/clutch from Limonaia recently as well. I’m also kind of obsessed with the blabla dolls {hey, I’m a big kid, right?!}…

There’s always something lovely about the home page of ModCloth. I really love the current “shop the outfit” looks with the beautifully simplistic way the shoots were styled and photographed.

Not sure if you folks have noticed, but N.E.E.T. Magazine has a new look. Stephanie has done an amazing job on the redesign and the current issue {launched on September 1} is full of great handmade items and shops.

Oh, and I contributed two of the articles. Cool, right?

The articles are on pages 20 – 23.

This happens to me a lot. I mean, a lot. I cruise around Etsy and stumble upon something I like. I visit the shop and then find more that I like. I then become very indecisive and want way too many things. What happens next is because I cannot select the item that speaks to me most…I stalk the shop. I’ll add items to my wish list and then continue to visit and see what new things have been added. It’s like a little obsession. I know, it’s weird. But that’s how I do. Sohomode is a prime example of my shop-stalking behavior. I basically adore everything that Louise Hedley makes. Her designs are feminine, vintage inspired clothing for the modern girl. So, here’s a few things on, you know, my wish list…
Summer Coat: $100.00:

Tea Dress: $85.00:

High Waisted Pencil Skirt: $55.00:

Thinking Dots: $55.00:

Circle Wrap Skirt: $40.00:

Custom Tea Dress: $100.00:

Okay, don’t lie. Can you narrow it down to just one favorite in her shop? Maybe you can help me out!
