a pop of color.

the last few days have been strange here in san francisco. the weekend was lovely and then this week has given us rain, hail, crazy wind…it’s all just yucky and dreary out there. i would much rather just stay in and curl up in bed under the covers where it’s {kinda} warm. but it’s time to head out to work. so i thought as a pick-me-up a pop of color might do the trick…

andrea heimer.

i was thrilled to receive an email from andrea heimer regarding her 30×30 project {part II}. it’s a series of 30 animal portraits that she painted in 30 days. last year she focused on people and this year is all about the animals. the paintings are watercolor and pencil and would look so beautiful framed. born and raised in montana and currently residing bellingham, washington, andrea is a self-taught artist. here are a couple of my favorites…

rachel zoe.

so this is the second time {here’s the first} that i am going to talk about the rachel zoe project on mixed plate. have you watched it before? i became hooked after trying to figure out who she was and why people always talked about her having these crazy phrases that she would use. if you’ve seen her show, you’ll know why i think these are just great…

sweet collaboration.

oh, how i wish i had been in portland last weekend. the little winter handmade market took place and featured over 20 artists and craftspeople. i’ve been spying all these fabulous photos of what was up for offer there and am drooling. big time. for example, here’s a collaboration between pigeon toe ceramics and shanna murray {two of my faves!}…

check out the inside…

how great are these?! of course, they sold out of almost everything within the first two hours of the market and are currently out of stock. but check out their sites because it looks like there’s more to come.
