the 25th is getting closer. eek! i am doing a late post because i’ve been running around doing post office runs, grocery shopping, adding last minute touches to gifts, and…oh, yeah…baking for the last several hours. i thought i would take a break to show off the lovely i heart paper section of the gift guide. because, you know, i really do heart paper…
check out all of these lovely shops. oh, and remember to check the guide for the exclusive discount codes!
happy monday to you! hope you all had a lovely weekend. the rain here in san francisco hindered me from accomplishing some of my goals {holidays + rain + traffic + public transportation = bleh}. but it’s alright. it’s the start of a new week. let’s begin with a peek at the holiday gift guide‘s for your space section {such good stuff!}…
check out all of these lovely shops. oh, and remember to check the guide for the exclusive discount codes!
what does your space look like right now? is there a christmas tree in your living room? are there all sorts of decor elements reflective of the season? growing up {and still to this day} my mom really got a thrill out of sprucing up our home to look festive. the day after thanksgiving we would pull out the boxes that were filled with ornaments, lights, figurines, and more. it was on. being that i live alone now and am oh-so-homesick, i yearn for a little something familiar. since my apartment doesn’t have much space {considering i’m currently sprawled across the bed, living space, and kitchen working on craft projects and gifts}, i decided on this. may i present to you my “holiday corner”…
don’t you like my mini-tree? i have no idea what it is, but it sure smells good.
my little deer was in need of a place to live. i think he likes his new home. and the flower i gave him today.
oh, and my silver elephant candle adds a nice glow to the space…
while checking to see what was new with artist camilla engman, i noticed that her holiday tags are back! that’s right. she generously created new gift tags for your downloading and tagging pleasure. could they be any cuter?!
alright. today is the day where i get my holiday cards written and mailed out. that is the goal. i know, i’m super late this year. whenever november rolls around i begin debating whether i should make my own holiday cards or purchase some lovingly handmade ones by someone else. when i come across beautiful cards such as the ones below, i secretly want to hoard them all for myself. i know. it’s a problem. but, can you really blame me?!
smock paper. they do letterpress. they do it beautifully. so i always look forward to this time of year to see what new designs they post for their sustainable line of cards that are printed on bamboo paper and envelopes and their 100% post-consumer recycled paper double-sided {yup, double-sided} gift wrap.
happy turkey day, everyone! or…happy tofurkey day! what are your plans for the holiday? i will be eating at my favorite vegetarian chinese restaurant here in the city. that’s right. i am going to head to chinatown. i know, i know…not your traditional thanksgiving meal, but it works for me. i really wish that i had decided to go home for the week {it definitely would have been nicer weather on o‘ahu – sf has been c-o-l-d}. it would have been great to have spent time with my family, see my nieces and nephews, visit with friends and have a real meal {nothing beats mom’s cooking, right?}.
i want to know what it is that you’re thankful for. the past couple of years have been pretty trying but i am still thankful for everything. i am thankful to have made new friends here. some of whom have really been supportive of me during difficult times. i am thankful to be in good health. i am thankful to have a fun job to go to every single day where i meet some of the sweetest people. i am thankful to have a family who i know loves me so, so much. i am thankful to have a roof over my head. i am thankful that i have a sense of humor and can laugh at myself. i am thankful for many, many things…including all of you. the online community of bloggers, crafters, indie business folks, readers and new friends…well, you are all truly amazing. i am very appreciative of you. i wish you a happy thanksgiving.
you better head on over there because i am so excited about this year’s holiday gift guide. the participants are amazing and have offered up exclusive discounts just for mixed plate readers. lucky you! and check out all of the items in their shops and support handmade businesses this {and every} holiday season {and occasion}. remember, these are unique items created with love…isn’t that what you want to give your loved ones {or yourself}?
happy spooky day! last night i had big plans of baking, listening to my new vinyl scores, touching up my nails {orange & black!}, and some crafty stuff. instead i watched the amityville horror {the 1979 one} as i stitched a zombie on my shirt…
i was thinking about what i could make for today as treats for everyone…
and then i got distracted by these guys…
then we all played and no work got done…
so all i did was the shirt. no other treats were made. my nails stayed chipped. but today is halloween and i’ll be at the candy store {there’s going to be lots of yummy candy, so go there 2 – 6pm}. so, from me and my zombie friends…
have a safe and happy halloween! hope you get lots of treats!
i think when people meet me they assume i may be the kind of girl that would enjoy romantic comedies. not that i hate them or anything, i just would rather watch a horror flick. i don’t know what it is, but i like sitting and watching something and hoping i’ll get scared. i get tense and nervous as the scene builds {you know, when you just know something is about to happen} and i love it. when i had a television {sheesh! that was before i moved to sf!} i’d look forward to this time of year because you could find those “100 scariest moments/movies” shows or “fear festivals” going on. what are some movies that always scare you? here’s a few that may do the trick…
ringu is the japanese {original} version of the ring…
what makes the house of the devil great is that it was released in 2009 but is shot to look like it’s the 80′s. not saying it’s super scary or anything, but it has a couple of moments.
i realize that none of these movies are particularly gory {which i will admit to enjoying sometimes, too}. also, i noticed i didn’t post any zombie movies. shame on me. well, with blogs like shana‘s surviving horror, brutal as hell, and new-to-me horror society, i can get my horror fix at any time.
so, what’s your favorite scary movie? what was the last one that freaked you out so bad that you didn’t want to go to the bathroom alone in the middle of the night or wanted to leave all the lights on? i’m trying to figure that out.
aloha! i’m Liana. this is my site. i am not a professional writer. i pretty much just write the way i talk. it’s fun meeting new online friends and introducing these amazing artists. i’ll do my best to keep you entertained.
