Anthro

I can honestly say that I am a small business and indie craftsperson supporter (hey, that’s why Mixed Plate exists!). 100%. If it means I have to pay more for something that is handmade compared to a cheaper version from a big box shop I will ALWAYS go handmade. Not only does that mean you are going for a unique and great quality product, but you are also supporting your fellow creative types. That being said and while this blog is usually indie…I walked into Anthropologie the other day. I’m not sure if I should feel bad about this or not. I didn’t buy anything there, just looked. I have to say that there’s a lot of cute and pretty there. May I share with you?…

For the Modern Art Collector…

Christin Ciaccio of PBCB Studios contacted me the other day so that I could learn more about her art. Based out of Los Angeles, Christin and her husband share PBCB Studios where they paint, draw and design lovely things.

As a painter Christin’s expressionistic style is inpsired by notions of fate, luck and the paths we choose in life. Images of cherries, horse shoes, mushrooms and keys function as visual alphabet, allowing the viewer to project his or her own meanings onto the paintings.

Two new sections of the online shop include paintings that are under $25 (hello, perfect for gift-giving) and a “Birdy” section devoted exclusively to bird paintings (I LOVE these). I’ve got my favorites picked out already, how about you?

If you happen to be in the Los Angeles area this weekend, head on over to Christin’s studio in Eagle Rock. They’re opening the doors this Saturday evening for a holiday art walk.

Learn more about Christin, her studio, her process and gallery shows by checking out her blog. If you’re ready to start your modern art collection or are looking to add to your current one, head over to PBCB Studio’s shop now…
