Mohop

Here are the newest creations by Annie of Mohop.  Yup, now she’s got the Wedge Sandal Collection that is made with either solid cherry or walnut wood.  This style is available in low-, mid- and high-heeled heights just as in her original Bent Ply.    There are also tons of ribbons now to choose from so visit the gallery for great ideas on how to wear your pair.

Boots

Alright.  So, if you’ve been reading Mixed Plate for a while now you may have seen me post about shoes.  I guess I like shoes.  I mean, I’m not really a big shopper in general (unless it’s of handmade goods, of course!).  I am also not really into fancier shoes or high heels.  Converse and flats are sort of more my speed now (I’m all about the comfort).  Anyway…I have also posted about boots.  Being that I was born and raised in Hawaii meant that I didn’t have much of a reason to purchase any boots.  Usually I could get away with slippers, right?  Well, guess what I recently did…

My Boots

There they are.  My first real pair of boots!  I figured that now that I am in San Francisco (and it’s super cold for my blood!) I could get a pair.  These are by Merrell and were kind of comfy when I wore them (except for the fact that I didn’t even have the proper socks to wear with them).  I got them on sale (no, I did not pay the full price!)

At first I tried to search for vegan boots.  I had a hard time locating any that were decently priced and at least a little ‘cute’.  Of course I saw some online.  But how exactly would I figure out the sizing?  I know it seems weird and all but you’ll have to remember that having shoes that cover so much of your leg is foreign to me.  Which creates yet another issue.  Remember how I said it is a challenge for me to figure out how to dress each day?  Enter a pair of boots and it gets even trickier.  In the photos I’m just wearing my trusty ‘ol Levis jeans that I’m not sure are meant to stuff into the boots, but hey, it worked for the time.  I’m just waiting to get some cute tights or leggings to wear with a skirt (which I only now own 1 of and bought just for this occasion!) and maybe I’ll be set.

My Boots 2   My Boots 3

Sorry for the bad pictures.  The second one shows that the tops can be folded down if you like for a different look.  My husband calls that the ‘pirate’ look.  I think it’s cute.  ps - the polka dot bag (or corner of the bag) you see hanging on the door is made by the wonderful Vanessa of Gerbera Designs).

Thanks for reading the ramblings about my new boots and my journey of discovering what will work in terms of dress.  I will gladly accept any advice on what to do with myself with the boots or how to keep warm here.  Hey, if you’d like to email your photos or links to anything please do.  Maybe we can add it here!

ModCloth

Visit ModCloth for retro and modern goods.  They have one-of-a-kind vintage clothing along with vintage inspired creations from indie designers.  Susan Gregg started the company just over four years ago during the summer between high school and college.  She created ModCloth as a part of her thrifting addiction and ended up turning it into a place for emerging designers (check out Soundgirl Clothing, Tulle, Blue Platypus and more) to show off their clothing and accessories as well as a place to sell her vintage finds.  Susan and her business partner Shahrzad are sure to stock new items regularly so you will have to constantly check out the shop.  Here’s a sneak peek…

It’s All The Rage

Based in Toronto is a shop that believes in style, not fashion nor the fashion industry. The Rage has a little place set up online selling amazing one-of-a-kind styles by artists living in Toronto. Right now there are hand-painted shoes available and they are simply works of art. It’s almost as though you have to make the decision whether to wear them or maybe keep them on a shelf for display as you would any other painting or sculpture. Visit The Rage to see these graffitilicious shoes…

I Wanna Stomp My Feet!

Don’t you ever feel that way? When Karen told me about her site I told her that I wanted to get a pair of boots and stomp around through the rain. If only it would rain here more!

Plueys is a small independent label creating rainboots for both women and children. The boots have fun and bold prints on them and aren’t your average rubber boot. Plueys is a farily new company and they are already doing quite well.

If you’re in the market for some stylish raingear, maybe Plueys is just what you’ve been looking for. The boots are limited in quantity and are a better alternative to a soggy, wet and ruined shoe. Head on over now to get your very own pair and start the stompin’!

Another Anthropologie Shoe Post…

Again, I’ve never owned a pair of shoes from Anthropologie. In fact, I think I’ve only owned one jacket from them (I bought it on my honeymoon). However….it’s always fun to see what interesting things they have on their site. The colors are always great and if I could walk in some of those and were brave enough to wear them, I guess I would!

Here are some I could walk in (since they are flats, of course!)…
