bust magazine is putting together a special edition of their craftacular for the seed: a vegan experience. it’s a two-day event that celebrates the vegan lifestyle by hosting workshops and lectures, offering up plant-based food, and showcasing high-quality handmade eco-conscious goods. and they’re accepting applications now {applications must be filled out by may 14}! the event takes place on saturday, june 16 and sunday, june 17 in soho, nyc.

well, hi! i have been a bit quiet here on mixed plate but i haven’t forgotten about my love of it {or my love for you!}. i have been a busy girl just doing a little something…starting a new business! yes, i know. i’ve gone and done it again. i am really proud of myself and excited to finally share the info with you. i’ve been taking courses relating to my business and building my new site.
what am i doing, you ask? i’m a virtual assistant! i am in the biz of helping other entrepreneurs get their systems in place, helping with whatever tasks they need tending to {so that they can focus on the fun parts of their company}. Check out my site and tell me what you think. Spread the news if you know of anyone that may need some help getting organized, sending emails and invoices to clients, help with wordpress sites, etc. I already have some wonderful clients and am loving it!

it’s been a while since i’ve had flowers in my apartment. so today while i was passing by one of my favorite flower shops. i allowed myself to have a little treat. i got a bouquet {love the black paper, tissue and ribbon} put together by owner of birch torryne choate that consisted of dahlias and beautiful cream/off-white carnations {by the way, i have a new appreciation for carnations}…

i love animals and go gaga over products with animals on them. paper products, bags, clothing, you name it! so it was only natural that i felt the need to feature these farm animal glasses by jessica rust designs…
the glasses, like the others available at her shop, are made from recycled wine and beverage bottles. sold as a set of 4, you can select a cow, pig, rooster, or lamb design or go for one of each. also, a portion of the proceeds go to sustainable futures, an organization that puts the unemployable back to work.

today is my birthday…
there, i said it. it’s the first year that i am really trying to embrace and celebrate the day. i am looking forward to this new year and am thinking positive thoughts. this next chapter in my life is off to a great start with friends that refuse to let me be anything other than happy about march 4. they’re taking me out tonight to party it up. and i can’t wait. my birthday wish for you is that i hope you have such wonderful people in your life. i love them and all of you and am so blessed.
