get ready.

in talking to and visiting with friends it seems as though 2010 was a rough year for a lot of us. as the year was coming to a close all i could think was, “2011, bring it on!”…

and i had other, well, choice words for 2010. i have a feeling that this year will bring wonderful things for you and for me as well. i am not hoping for it, i believe it. i will make it happen and this year will be great {i made stuff happen yesterday as i ran around the city checking things off of my to-do list! it felt so good}! and that means both personally and on the business front.

so, with that, may i ask a little favor of you? i have a quick survey to help get a better sense of where i should take mixed plate and how i could make things sweeter for those that i feature and sponsors as well. i would love your feedback and appreciate your time. it really means a lot to me. 2011, get ready for us!

ps – all of the info you provide me with for the survey is just to help. i will not share any personal information – it’s just between you and me, love!

chalkboard tags.

i jokingly told a friend last week that i was like scrooge. or, that’s what he called me. i told him how i’m not a fan of christmas music {although, i will admit there are a few songs i do enjoy}, primarily because i can’t stand the idea of stores and coffee shops pumping those tunes out starting the day after thanksgiving. that, to me, is waaaaay to early. but you know what part i’m least scroogey about? buying gifts for my nieces and nephews, baking treats, and wrapping. i love wrapping things. so it’s no surprise why i am loving these eco-friendly {you can reuse them year after year!} chalkboard gift tags by eclu

and then there are the wool felt present toppers

$12.00/set of 3 {your choice of colors}

and the ruched ribbon

huh. maybe i’m not such a scrooge after all, right?

i have a secret to share with you…

a little while back i got an email with the words “top secret project” in the subject line. i was, of course, very intrigued. what added to the excitement was the fact that the email came from someone i admire a great deal. stephanie, the editor of n.e.e.t. magazine was working on a book project {to give their online presence one in print}  to celebrate the magazine’s fifth anniversary. i am so honored to have been asked to be a part of such a special adventure.

well, guess what? the book is officially available for sale and looks absolutely gorgeous!  it’s offered up with five covers by five illustrators {so you get to pick the one you want!}. within the book you will find five sections, with five interviews of five questions. i am one of the five n.e.e.t. writers {did you catch all the “5′s”} and had the privilege of interviewing some of the most amazing indie folks around for the n.e.e.t. homes section {they already happened to be on my crush list}. i got to know more about: sandra juto, natasha denness of candy pop images, jeska hearne of lobster and swan, valeria herner and daniel garbutt of hindsvik, and amanda johnson of here’s looking at me kid.

buy yourself a copy. buy one {or more} as a gift. available in both hardcover and softcover. read more about the book here‘ {and scroll down to the bottom to find a free flat rate shipping coupon code good through december 10}.

remember to also check out the current anniversary issue online now.

congratulations, stephanie!

photobooth love.

How sweet is this proposal captured by photos in a photobooth…

I love it! In the first two frames she had no idea that anything was about to happen. In the third frame she was confused and then totally surprised in the last.

tied. part 2.

Here is the second feature of ties that I just had to share. I have already professed my love for Shauna and Stephen and all things that their hands create. So naturally I was thrilled to see their latest project that I meant to post about a few weeks back when I first heard about it. I missed the debut of FORAGE, their new line of bow ties, last Friday at The Curiosity Shoppe here in San Francisco {the pop-up shop photos look amazing!}. Don’t worry, you can find their collection on the site.

They are all so lovely! Do you think I could pull off wearing a bow tie? Hmmm….

le tour.

Anyone watching The Tour? I keep checking online to see what kind of coverage is available {without having to sign up and pay a huge fee}. I can’t believe the crazy crashes that have already taken place so early on. If you’re following it, who are you cheering for?

busy.

Aloha! How is your week going? I really miss you and wanted to say that my day job has been keeping me busy so that’s why there’s been silence here. But I wanted to tell you…

Promise, I do. I’ll be back tomorrow or Monday at the latest. Have a happy {rainy, if you’re in SF} Thursday!

oh, I’m around.

Hello! How I’ve missed you all so much! Since my trip back home I returned to San Francisco and had an extra day to spend with my sister {so much fun!}. I headed back to work after dropping her at the airport the following day. Following that, however, I started feeling under the weather. Actually, all three of us at work got sick. So I do promise that while I am not 100% yet, I’ll try to be back in full swing this week. Hope you’ll have a wonderful Monday!

now on bloglovin’.

I kept seeing that folks were using bloglovin’ to keep track of all the blogs they like to read. I have to be honest. It’s confession time. Even though I’m online so much doing work and research I am completely unorganized in keeping up with the blogs and sites I like. So I asked via my Twitter {go on, follow me} what everyone uses – Google Reader or bloglovin’. It was kind of a tie. So I thought I’d finally start checking and testing both of them out.

Ready to go? Me, too! This is Balbegno Castle in Scotland. It is a 1560′s castle that Charlie and Caroline Gladstone of Pedlars have redecorated and refurbished over the course of two years. It is situated in the center of thousands of acres of undisturbed wilderness. There is a large private garden, a croquet lawn, and so much more. Look at that shot above taken at dusk via Team Pedlars. Oh, and the colorful cabinet? Must. Have.
