Order Me Some Popcorn

There are a couple of movies that I would like to see.  The Darjeeling Limited, Margot at the Wedding and Juno.  I haven’t had a chance to catch any of them but would love to hear what you thought of them if you did.  I’ve already downloaded my Juno album from iTunes and am loving it.  In fact, that’s what I’m listening to as I write this post.  Here’s the trailer (or you can click on the links above and they’ll take you to the trailers at Apple).

Nomasterbacks!

Alright, so I am really digging on this song and video. NOMASTERBACKS is a group of 3 talented local boys (Temper T, Well.Being & Wade) from Hawaii that have been writing, rapping, rhyming - you name it - for years. Back in high school these guys were already awesome and they don’t disappoint with this sweet little video that was released earlier this month, “New Rules”, off their most recent album, “At Your Door”.

Indie Music Friend…Tiffany Thurston

Tiffany2

Tiffany and I have a few things in common…We exercise together, we went to the same high school, we have a love for John Mayer (seriously!) and a special place in our hearts for New York. We both like music, but Tiffany actually makes music! She writes and sings and is even co-producing her upcoming album.

What she describes as a mix of John Mayer (of course) and India Arie sounds, Tiffany’s music is catchy and will have you bobbing your head along and probably reciting lyrics immediately. Her voice is strong, yet soothing and I can’t wait for her album to be released. She’s also beautiful and very sweet. So let’s show her some support as she continues on her journey of recording with an Indie label (something we gals can relate to!).

Until then, and as her site is being put together, check her out on My Space for a taste of what’s to come.

New Music

I look forward to Tuesdays because they’re fun…Well, mostly due to the fact that it’s the day when new music is released. You know me, I head for iTunes and see what’s new and what will be my next download.

Here are 3 new albums that I was waiting for that were just released today:

The Killers - Sam’s Town

September 12 is a Happy Day!

Grey’s AND John? Wow!

I have been waiting for the new John Mayer album to come out and am so excited it’s here! Continuum is his third album filled with bluesy, soulful and sensitive music, guitar-playing and John’s beautiful voice…aaaaahhhh….I think he’s a brilliant!

John Mayer-Continuum

Oh, and the answer is “Yes”…I did download the album at iTunes

And while I was there I noticed that the new Grey’s Anatomy Season 2 Soundtrack was just released. Yeah for me! The music is great and different from the pop-tarty stuff you may hear on the radio. Plus, it reminds me of my favorite show (yes, I’m addicted) and McDreamy…and McVet…and George…and….

Grey's Anatomy Season 2 Soundtrack

In addition, the Season 2 DVD set of Grey’s Anatomy came out today as well. I wanted to grab that today but couldn’t make it to the store. It’ll surely be in my hands by the end of this week! Oh boy…I’m thinking Grey’s marathon of seasons 1 and 2 that’ll lead up to season 3 on Thursday, September 21!

So, I ended up purchasing 2 whole albums and a few extra songs as well.

Where Have I Been?

This is another one of those, “How could I not have known about this” type of posts. There is a group that for some reason I’ve only found out about recently. They kick butt and rock it on their new album, Oh No.

OK Go-Oh No Album

OK Go! is so amazing, and as you may have guessed, I’ve downloaded their latest album to the iPod. Yes, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Their music has been played loudly in my car and I love it!

OK Go-The Band

By the way…they just performed on the MTV VMAs. Yup, they did “Here It Goes Again”…Yes, that’s the treadmill video you’ve seen. What? You haven’t seen it yet? Go watch it! You’ll seen be asking yourself, “Where Have I Been?”

Grey’s Anatomy

If we’re Live Journal buddies, you probably know that I’m a huge Grey’s Anatomy fan. Yes, I watched the entire season (both 1 and 2, of course) and even own the DVD of the first season. I only have a handful of DVDs and never thought I’d purchase a season of a television show. However, once they released it I was at the store to pick it up.

Season 2 came and went. Then they won a bunch of awards. Then they announced they’re moving the show from Sunday evenings to Thursday evenings. Huh….Make note of that in the calendar….

Now that it’s summer there are only re-runs of all the shows. What do I do? I watch them. I watch the Season 1 episodes on Thursdays and I watch the Season 2 episodes on Sundays.

Did I mention the blogs?

Then there’s the album. The Grey’s Anatomy soundtrack (check it out on iTunes). Yes, I downloaded that as well. It’s actually a really cool album with artists and songs I never heard of and wish I had earlier (including Ben Lee, The Ditty Bops, Postal Service, Psapp and more!).

Grey's Anatomy Soundtrack

Aside from the re-runs, the album and the blogs I’m waiting for the Season 2 DVD to come out. Oh, yeah…it’s on pre-order right now and is set to release on September 12 (can’t wait!).

Yes, I’m addicted. Are you?

I have a crush…

It’s alright, my husband knows about this. I listen to a variety of music genres and have a thing for musicians that can not only sing but who write their own music and play their own instruments.

Meet Teddy Geiger. He has been playing music for a while now and his album came out in March of this year. He is a young man who is a self-taught musician and was putting music together on the piano and guitar by the age of 8. He is now just 17 years old.

At first I was embarrassed to admit that I purchased his entire album from iTunes (the day it came out), thinking that he was meant just for teen girls who go to concerts and scream wildly at the top of their lungs. Hey, one listen to his lyrics and you will see why I have a crush on him. That’s right, he sings AND writes his own music AND plays his own instruments (piano, guitar, bass AND drums) on this album.

Give him a try…

“The Birds and the Bees”

VW Rabbit

Music makes me happy. My iPod makes me happy.

Have you seen the new Volkswagen Rabbit commercial? The one where the Rabbits “multiply”? If you have seen this ad you probably found yourself bobbing your head and swaying along to the catchy song that takes you on a fun ride. It’s just one of those songs that no matter what kind of day you have had, or are having, will put you in a chipper mood.

Check it out on iTunes. I did and I downloaded it. The name of the song is “The Birds and the Bees” by Patrick and Eugene.

This song makes me happy.
