this morning while i was running some errands, i passed by a shop and saw this in their window…

what i love is that it was just a hint of valentine’s day. it wasn’t overly girly {yes, yes…i’m scroogie, huh?} and this could actually be left out all year. i also like that it seems to be handmade.

mini jungle.

just spotted this cardboard cut out animal set by milimbo. this small company, based in spain, draws inspiration for their artwork from stories such as “little red riding hood”, “hansel and gretel” and “the three bears”. i love tall of their products, but fell for their mini jungle…

today a sweet customer came in to my day job to wish me a happy new year. at home in hawai‘i i would celebrate chinese new year by going with family to chinatown…and eating. of course. i haven’t had the chance to really do anything for the year of the snake yet. but i am looking forward to what i am planning on making a good year. oh, here’s what she brought me…

i recently came across ottobags, a small company in istanbul that crafts totes, backpacks and messenger bags. using hand tools and a sewing machine, the bags are created using cotton, canvas and waxed canvas. i am loving the styles and color usage…

almost five years ago i purchased this vintage frame chalkboard for my apartment. i have it hanging up in my kitchen and it has had the same message on it for a really long time now. it’s one of those nice little reminders that i think is important to see, especially on days when i’m feeling down…

and i do look at it each day.

today i had some things to catch up on from this week. i did take the opportunity to allow myself a little treat. i took a quick break and walked over to japantown. i wanted to pick up a birthday gift for a friend. then i stopped by new people and hit up the cafe for a coffee jelly drink that my friend had told me about. japantown is so, so great and is definitely {i know i’ve said it before} a happy place for me…
