Feeling Used?
While I have had the feeling of being used before, I can look at the whole “used” thing in a more positive light, right? Maybe in the form of a reusable, eco-friendly bag. These bags by urban:kitty were made from repurposed vinyl wallcovering and straps of natural hemp. Gotta love the letterpressed design, too (done by Blackbird Letterpress).

L-O-V-E…
I have said it before, I admit it. I adore Jennifer Ramos and all she does. Her blog makes me happy and inspires me and her artwork rocks. But, you already know this since I’ve featured her here before.
Check out her newest additions to the shop…
Yes, the designs were there before but these are special! Jennifer had a limited edition of her prints hand silk-screened on high quality recycled paper by Mohawk. I’m so excited for her because it’s something that’s been in the works for quite some time now. Lovely!

I think it’s something we’d all like to have happen. We all strive for this and a little reminder of it up on a wall is perfect. Perfect, indeed.

I am always excited to learn about artists and their newly opened shops. Kimberly Collignon, a Buffalo, New York based artist, sent me a little email sharing her work with me and I thought I’d pass them on to you. The images are simple and have just enough color to brighten your space. I love that she uses eco-friendly cardstock, too! Visit Ruthie Designs for more…

My Guest Post…
Jennifer over at Made by Girl had asked me to put together a little guest post for her. I was, of course, very honored and excited to do so. I adore her shop and her blog always makes me happy! The topic was “7 Things on My Wish List for 2009″ and, uh….let’s just say the hardest part was narrowing the list down to a manageable number. I ended up sticking to handmade because those are my favorite things. Some items may look familiar to you since I featured them on Mixed Plate in the past. Check out the post and Jennifer’s shop.

I was super excited when Annie sent me an email about her shop, Modern Material. She designs paper goods, apparel and accessories with a rock & roll edge. Based out of Columbus, Ohio, Annie is a full time graphic designer by day as she establishes her boutique brand. Here are a couple of my faves from her shop (how awesome is the first top!?)…

Farewell, 2008…
Another year gone by. I still cannot believe that 2008 has come and gone and we’re now entering a brand new year. I wanted to say thank you to all of you. I am not quite sure how to express how much Mixed Plate’s readers mean to me. I truly do appreciate having you in my world and sincerely enjoy your company on this journey. I am always looking to improve Mixed Plate and think of new ways to bring you more handmade goodness. I absolutely love to support fellow indie folks and could not do this without you. So, again, thank you.
I wish that you will all have a Happy, Happy New Year. May 2009 bring you happiness, good health and everything else you desire. Be safe and take care. More Mixed Plate to come in 2009, so I do hope you’ll join me.
Aloha,
Liana
